- The American Standards are:
- UL 13 , Power Limited Tray Cables PLTC 300V
- UL 1277 Tray Cables TC 600V
- UL 2550 Instrumentation Tray Cables ITC 300V
- ICEA S-82-552, 300V or 600V.
- The European standards are:
- EN 50288-7, 300V or 500V.
- IEC 60502-1, 600/1000V.
- IEC 61158-2, foundation fieldbus cable 300V.
- BS 5308
- Cable construction :
- Conductor: Except for thermocouple extension cables, conductors shall be solid, stranded plain or metal coated copper (tinned) in accordance with Class 1, 2.
Conductor Size:
- American Standard: 20 AWG, 18 AWG, 16 AWG, 14 AWG, 12 AWG, 10 AWG, 8 AWG & 6 AWG.
- European standard: 0.5 mm2, 0.75 mm2, 1 mm2, 1.5 mm2, 2.5 mm2, 4 mm2 & 6 mm2.
- Insulation: SC can offer the following insulation material:
- Flame retardant PVC (minimum temperature rating 80°C, 90°C or 105°C).
- Flame retardant XLPE (minimum temperature 90°C or 105°C).
- Polyethylene (minimum temperature rating 80°C).
- XLPE (minimum temperature 90°C).
The selected insulating material is complying with the international standard & customer requirement.
Cable elements:
- Assembly: Two insulated conductors uniformity twisted into a pair or three insulated conductor’s uniformity twisted into a triad.
- Color Code: Unless otherwise specified, the color code will be: One black wire & one white wire for pairs. One black wire, one white wire & one red wire for triads. Numeric print on each core for multi pair or triad.
- Cabling: The pairs/triads are laid up together to form a cable core; suitable filler may be applied when necessary. The cable construction will be: Single Pair/Triad Unshielded, Single Pair/Triad shielded, Multi pair/triad Unshielded, Multi pair/Triad with overall shielded, and Multi pair/triad with Individual and overall shielded.
- Individual Shield Material: When shielding of individual cable elements are specified, it shall be Aluminum foil applied with a minimum overlap of 25 % and with a drain wire in direct contact with the metallic side of the foil (N/A to single Pair or Triad).
- Overall Shield Material: When shielding of the cable core is specified, it shall be Aluminum foil applied with a minimum overlap of 25 % and with a drain wire in direct contact with the metallic side of the foil.
- Optional Cupper Foil Shielding material can be offered instead of Aluminum Foil complying the customer requirement & international standard.
- Jacketing: SC can offer the following material:
- Flame retardant PVC.
- Flame retardant XLPE.
The selected sheath material is complying with the international standard & customer requirement.
The material shown above can be used as inner jacket or outer jacket.
Unless otherwise specified the jacket color will be Black or Blue.
OPTIONALS
Optional 1: Fire Survival Instrumentation cables
- Instrumentation cables that installed in an area has the risk of fire, is required to be fire resistant.
- Such cable has a characteristics that it can survive and carry electric signal in case of fire and flame temperature up to 950 °C for 3 hours without circuit breakdown shorted or open.
- The construction of such cables are the same as any type of the above with additional MICA fire resistant tape has to be wrapped over each conductor under the insulation.
- Fire Resistant cable is tested to IEC 60331/BS 6387 Specification.
Optional 2: Foundation Fieldbus (FF) Cable
- Fieldbus is an innovative technology to implement field information networking.
- IEC-61158-2 identified the fieldbus cable characteristics, where type A is the fundamental type (Spur cable and trunk cable).
- All FF cables shall be compliant to FF-844 H1 Cable Test Specification
- For all FF cables outer jacket color shall orange.
- The FF cable will be single pair overall screen type or multi pair individual & overall screen.
Optional 3: Armored Cable
Armoring process can be offered over inner jacket. SC can offer:
- Galvanized round steel wire armoring (GSWA).
- Galvanized Double Steel Tape Armored (GSTA).
The SWA diameter or STA thickness must comply the international standard.
Optional 4: Lead sheath or Multi-Layer sheath cable
When chemical or environmental protection is required, Lead sheath or Multi-Layer sheath can be applied.
Optional 5: Control Cable
Multi Core cable can be offered as un-shielded or overall shielding type only. The Cores are laid up together to form a cable core; suitable filler may be applied when necessary.
Optional 6: Thermocouple extension cable
- Extension cable is a pair of wires having such temperature emf characteristics relative to the thermocouple with which the wires are intended to be used.
- Conductor used for such type of cable shall be Solid thermocouple extension wire per ANSI MC96.1
- There are different types of thermocouple extension wires, types TX, JX, EX and KX each type has a different metal of conductor and different emf rate, and different temperature range as well.
- The construction of such cables are the same as any type of the above single or multi pair cables only with color code of insulation as per ANSI MC96.1.
- The jacket color will be as per ANSI MC96.1.
